A lot of business gets done in Nashville. Some of the Nashville area’s largest companies include: Baldwin Piano, Country Music Television, Gibson Guitar Corporation, Nissan, and UBS.

But let’s be honest, Nashville is known for its music and after-hours play. Below are some of the more fun things you can do in Nashville.

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum

The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum adds a strikingly modern touch to the Nashville skyline and is situated at the epicenter of the city’s rapidly growing core, a block from the popular honky-tonks of Broadway, across the street from Bridgestone Arena and Music City Center, and adjacent to the Omni Hotel. The museum, called the “Smithsonian of country music” because of its unrivaled collection,  recently unveiled a $100 million expansion, doubling its size to 350,000 square feet of dynamic state-of-the-art galleries, archival storage, education classrooms, retail stores, and special event space boasting stunning downtown views.

There are several different experiences to be had at the museum. Learn about all of them by clicking here.

Grand Ole Opry

What began as a simple radio broadcast in 1925 is today a live entertainment phenomenon. Dedicated to honoring country music’s rich history and dynamic present, the Grand Ole Opry showcases a mix of country legends and the contemporary chart-toppers who have followed in their footsteps. The Opry, an American icon and Nashville, Tennessee’s number-one attraction, is world-famous for creating one-of-a-kind entertainment experiences for audiences of all ages.  It’s been called the “home of American music” and “country’s most famous stage.” Every year, hundreds of thousands of people make pilgrimages across town or around the world to the Grand Ole Opry to see the show live.

The Grand Ole Opry will even help plan your trip.

Johnny Cash Museum

The Johnny Cash Museum is ranked as the number one music museum in the world by Forbes, Conde’ Naste, and National Geographic Traveler. Not bad, eh?

Ticket can be purchased online or at the door.

Belle Meade Plantation

Constructed in 1853 in a breathtaking Greek Revival style, the Belle Meade Plantation is known as the “Queen of the Tennessee Plantations.” At the center of the plantation is the mansion (its columns are peppered with bullet holes from the Civil War), where guides dressed in period costumes offer tours of the mansion’s antebellum-style interior. You’re invited to explore the grounds, which are home to the country’s first and best thoroughbred breeding farms (the visitor center is modeled after a traditional Southern paddock) as well as the renowned Iroquois Steeplechase, the oldest in the United States. During the summer and fall, the Belle Meade Plantation hosts numerous events, including Easter egg hunts and antique auctions.

The Plantation also has it own winery and, of course, a gift shop.

Plantation tours and pricing can be found here.

Adventure Science Center

Need a break from the music scene? You and the kids will love the hands-on educational entertainment at the Adventure Science Center. Interactive displays at the Adventure Science Center allow little ones to learn about science, from what goes on inside the human body to what goes on thousands of light-years above our heads. Kids can get behind the controls of a flight simulator, learn what it takes to become an astronaut and step inside a face-altering photo booth to get a peek at what their future selves will look like. Regular demonstrations and lectures help children learn from the center’s interactive elements, and shows in the planetarium are entertaining for the whole family. Recent visitors praised the hardworking staff but recommend avoiding an afternoon visit when the center gets overcrowded with school groups.

The Adventure Science Center is located close to downtown Nashville for easy access. Tickets are affordable and there are lots of options to choose from to customize your visit.
